Local Government - 2018 Municipal Election

NOTICE OF ELECTION

MUNICIPALITY OF NORFOLK TREHERNE

Notice is hereby given that a vote of the Municipality of Norfolk Treherne will be taken to elect from the following duly nominated candidates:

VOTING PLACES

Voting places will be open for voting on the Wednesday the 24 day of October 2018 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Wards 1 & 3 will vote in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 215 Broadway Street, Treherne, MB.

Ward 2 will vote at the Rathwell Hall, 111 Broadway Street, Rathwell, MB.


Ward 3 will only vote for the Reeve Position, where the other voters will elect 2 Councillors in their Ward and Reeve.

 

IDENTIFICATION MAY BE REQUIRED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE. A person may be required to produce one piece of government issued photo identification or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity.

ADVANCE VOTING

For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, but who have reason to believe that they will be absent or otherwise unable to attend their proper voting place on election day, an advance voting opportunity will be located at the Treherne Municipal Office and will be open on October 16, 2018 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

MOBILE VOTING

For the purpose of accommodating persons who are qualified to vote, but reside at a health care facility, a mobile voting station will be set up at the following health care facility on election day.

Tiger Hills Health Centre -   October 24, 2018 from 2:00p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

APPLICATION TO VOTE BY SEALED ENVELOPE

A voter who is unable to go in person to the voting place or vote in advance, may apply in person, in writing, or by fax to the senior election official at P.O. Box 30, Treherne, Mb. R0G 2V0 or FAX 204-723-2719.

If applying in person or mail, a voter may apply between September 23 and October 21, 2018.

A voter applying in person may pick up a sealed envelope ballot package at the time of application.

A voter applying by mail or fax will receive a sealed envelope ballot by regular post, or by making alternative arrangements with the senior election official.

The Council consists of a Reeve elected At Large and 6 councillors elected by Ward; 2 members for each of the three wards.

Ward 1: (North and South of Treherne - Western 1/2 of Municipality) Township 9, Range 10 Sections 1-4, 9-16, 21-28, and 33-36. Township 8, Range 10 Section 1 East of Boyne River, and sections 2-4, 9-16, excluding part of Section 12 being East 165 feet of West 709 feet of South 209 feet, and East 148.5 feet of West 857.5 feet of South 209 feet, and South 200 feet of East 251 feet of West 1163 feet excluding Road 2396, and including all of sections 21-28, and 33-36. Township 7, Range 10 Sections 1-2, 11-14, 23 to E ½ of 27, E ½ of 34 -36. Township 9, Range 9 Sections 3-10, 15-22, 27-34. Township 8, Range 9 Sections 3-10, 15- 22, 27-34. Township 7, Range 9 Sections 3-10, 15-22, 27-34.

Ward 2: (North and South of Rathwell - Eastern 1/2 of Municipality) Township 7, Range 9 Sections 1- 2 excluding the Village of Notre Dame de Lourdes, and sections 11-14, 23-26, 35-36. Township 8, Range 9 Sections 1-2, 11-14, 23-26, 35-36. Township 9 Range 9 Sections 1-2, 11-14, 23-26, 35-36. Township 9, Range 8 all of Sections 1 – 36. Township 8, Range 8 all of Sections 1 – 36. Township 7, Range 8 all of Sections 1 – 36, excluding the Village of Notre Dame de Lourdes.

Ward 3 / Treherne: Town of Treherne - Township 8, Range 10 Section 1 to the Western edge of the Boyne River, and part of Section 12 including East 165 feet of West 709 feet of South 209 feet, and East 148.5 feet of West 857.5 feet of South 209 feet, and South 200 feet of East 251 feet of West 1163 feet excluding Road 2396.
