Treherne Elementary School

Our school is located in Treherne, Manitoba and is part of the Prairie Spirit School Division. Treherne Elementary School has a current enrolment of 99 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Twenty - three people are employed directly at Treherne Elementary School.

Treherne Collegiate Institute

Treherne Collegiate is a Senior 1 to Senior 4 school. It is located in Treherne MB and is part of the Prairie Spirit School Division. There are curently 146 students enrolled and 21 people employed at the school.

In addition to striving for academic excellence we at TCI continue to believe in the importance of our co-curricular activities. We believe the participation of students in a variety of activities is vital to the development of well-rounded students and is the key to building school spirit.

Tiger Hills Health Centre - 723-2133

The Tiger Hills Health Centre is part of the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority. Acute, diagnostic, long term, and palliative care are provided and a medical clinic is located at the front entrance with three doctors forming the Tiger Hills Medical Associates. The Tiger Hills Manor (personal care) is attached to the west end of the hospital and shares staff.  The Tiger Hills Villa is a 21-unit independant living facility attached to the west end of the Manor. Tenants lease their homes which surround a multi-purpose area for larger gatherings.

 

Tiger Hills Community Resource Centre 723-2702

Tiger Hills Community Resource Centre is a non-profit, licensed child care facility and community resource centre. We are pleased to offer licensed subsidized child care for ages 12 weeks – 12 years, Nursery School sessions for 2 & 3 year olds as well as 3 & 4 year olds, and a lending library filled with parent materials and information. Our centre is currently hosting the ARHA’s Healthy Baby Program on the first Tuesday of the month from 10AM-12PM and the Step 2 program on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 930AM-1130AM. Our centre is open weekdays from 7AM – 6PM. For more information on any of our programs or enrollment into the centre, please contact Jennifer McFall, Program Director at 723-2702.

 

 

 

R.C.M.P. - Treherne Detachment

 

 

Treherne - South Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department 

The Treherne - South Norfolk Fire Department has 19 Volunteers.  A new FL70 Freightliner Pumper was purchased in the spring of 2004 to replace the 1975 Ford Fire Truck, and a used F350 Truck and a new aluminum body package was purchase in the fall of 2004 and replaced the 1980 Rescue Van.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Construction of a the Catholic Church began in the summer of 1894, by the parishioners.  On December 16, 1894 the Vicar General of the diocese, the Rev. Father Allard, consecreated the church.  In March 1959 the ladies of the parish became a council in the international organization know as the "Catholic Womens League".  The church was destroyed by fire December 23, 1965.  A new building was erected on the same site and opened February 2, 1967, consecrated October 8, 1967.

Treherne United Church

Located on Boyne Street, has been designated a "heritage building" and has been restored to its original look.  The congregation meets every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Jim Haupt.  The Children's Choir (ages 2-7) and the Junior Choir (Grade 3 to Sr.4) sing alternately with the Senior Choir.  Sunday School meets during the service each week.  A new hearing enhancement system has recently been installed and welcomed by several members.  Everyone welcome.

St. Mark's Anglican Church

The first church was consecrated in 1896.  The present chuch was consecrated in 1912.  In 1970, the ladies of the congreation joined and became The Anglican Church Women.  In 1960, the Parish Hall was added to the church.  During 2005, services were discontinued at this church.

Treherne Arena Public Skating Hours: Wednesday 6:00-7:00 pm; Friday 6:30-8:00 pm; Sunday 1:00-2:00 pm. Shinny hours: Sunday 2:00-3:00 pm and Monday 6:15 - 7:15 pm *Sunday hours subject to change due to tournaments* Public skating provided free of charge thanks to the support of the Treherne Kinsmen Club. Curling Rink

The first curling in the community took place on the open pond near the mill.  In 1892, J.K. Robson built a skating rink with one sheet of ice for curling on the north and south sides.  In 1961, the present curling rink was build with three sheets.  Then in 1965, the artifical ice palnt was installed. 

Throughout the fall and winter months, men's night is Tuesday (with some Thursdays) and Ladies' night is Wednesday.

Legion Hall

On November 28, 1925, in  a room in the Marlborough Hotel in Winnipeg, the Royal Canadian Legion had its birth.  The Great War Veterans Assoc., Tubercular Veterans Assoc., Canadian Legion, Great Army of United Veterans, Canadian Disabled Veterans Assoc., Canadian National Veterans Guild, The Naval Veterans Assoc of Winnipeg, Veterans Civil Service Guild and the Imperial Veterans in Canada joined together into the Canadian Legion. 

In 1950, the Treherne Legion built heir own hall on Broadway.  Treherne Legion has been instumental in organizing and having built and maintained a home for senior citizens.

Legion Lodge

The Legion Lodge was built in 1965, having eight single and six double suites.  It was built on Smith Street in the center of town.  It s grounds and flowers have been a show place of Treherne.

Treherne Friendship Centre

A place for the 55+ group.  Cards on Wednesdays, dancing on Thursdays.  Meals available weekdays from the Friendly Meals Program.

Treherne Agricultural Society

The early pioneers saw a value of an Agricultural fair to raise the standard of livestock.  In 1901, an Agricultural Society was formed and held it's first annual exhibition on October 10.  The Treherne Beef Calf Club was first organized in October, 1939.  The first achievement days were held in conjunction with the Agricultural Society Fair where the claves were judged and then trucked to Winnipeg to be sold in the stockyards,  today the calves are sold by auction at the Fair.
